Management Locations

As part of Sonoma Mountain Institute’s mission to enhance the natural world we have been running a restorative cattle grazing program for the past few years on a number of properties. We have also been running a robust monitoring program along side of the grazing program to inform us how we are doing, how we can improve, and to illuminate relationships between grazing treatments and ecological effects on the landscape.

On this page you can choose any of the properties we manage to look at vegetation/grassland monitoring data (with controls and exclosures as well), soil monitoring data, grazing records and anecdotal stories and notes from our grazing management team (shepherd’s notes). You can also look at a variety of panoramic photos taken at the same place every year to evaluate the changes in woodland and grassland edges.

Please click on any of the properties listed below to view the monitoring data we have collected for each site. Vegetation, soil and panoramic data can also be accessed from the map by clicking on their location marker on the map.
